Here's a list of those older cameras for which my reviews are no longer available: DX Models (1.5x crop sensor): D40 (6mp) and D40x (10mp) — no longer recommended. D50 (6mp) — no longer recommended. D60 (10mp) — no longer recommended. D70 and D70s (6mp) — no longer recommended. D80 (10mp) — not recommended (exposure, amp noise)
For me the D700's utter brilliance as a photo taker is worth the small annoyances [tm] of eg < 100% viewfinder. I have a D700 AND a Sony A77 (about the top APSC camera going)(despite than N & C people say :-) )(DPReview says so). As an overall integrated photo making system the A77 trounces the D700 and anything without a pellicle mirror. (Really).

The D3s is superb and pairs very well with your 80-200 F2.8 D. The D3s is still amongst the top high ISO cameras money can buy even by todays standards. There are many PROs n cons over D750 and D3s but you can ignore most in favour of the D3s. Simply because of the lens you intend to use.

What’s the best camera for around $2000? These capable cameras should be solid and well-built, have both the speed and focus to capture fast action and offer professional-level image quality. In this buying guide we’ve rounded up all the current interchangeable lens cameras costing around $2000 and recommended the best.
is it still worth it to buy a used nikon d3 nowadays? Jan 7, 2015 ive never tried to have a fullframe and im planning to have one. im a d7000 user and have 14-24, 24-70, 70-200. is there someone who can recomend whats the best choice for a good start in fullframe with low budget? i was thinking for d3, d700, or d610.
But it's a decent camera (still) with decent lenses. The camera isn't dead (40K clicks). A D750 is newer and twice the pixel count and a little better at high and low ISO but not built to quite the same standard as its predecessor. Then you'd have to get some lenses for it, too.
Ozgu.
is nikon d700 still worth buying
